The Journey to your Eco Concept home in just 6 steps

It doesn’t have to be a stressful experience to build a new home, with Eco Concept we are here to help you enjoy the journey through designing, building and realising your dream home.

By working collaboratively, we aim to ensure we understand the needs and requirements of our clients and guide you in the design stage. During construction we regularly liaise with you to ensure you are aware of and satisfied with the progress of your project.

1. Design and planning

We often start with meeting together on your block of land, we work closely with you, to first understand your needs and requirements. This is an exciting stage and the design process begins and when you're happy with the plan and the price we go to contract and the deposit is paid. (if you do not have your block as yet, we are happy to assist you in your selection, promoting blocks that offer optimum orientation for passive solar design).

2. The concrete slab or timber flooring system

Once building approval is obtained we start by stripping the grass where the house will sit. Minimal excavation is usually required because we have designed your home to suit the block and avoid cutting the block up to make a standard house design fit. Now we proceed to construct the floor, whether your design calls for a reinforced concrete slab or if you have elected for a timber flooring system. Prior to pouring the concrete, an inspection is carried out by a certified building inspector after which we proceed with the pour. On completion of this stage your 1st progress payment is made.

3. Frame completion

Your new Eco Concept home is starting to take shape, the wall frames are erected and now it becomes 3 dimensional, you can physically see the actual size of each room and its relationship with rest of the house. At the completion of the wall and roof framing an inspection is carried out by a certified building inspector and a 2nd progress payment is made.

4. Cladding and lock-up

Your new construction transforms into a building, the roofing is fitted, the sisulation and windows installed and the cladding. Also at this stage the front and back doors are fitted and your house locked up and your home is well on its way. On completion of this stage, a 3rd progress payment is paid.

5. Internal fixings

The electrical pre-wiring and 1st fix hot & cold plumbing are installed in the wall & ceiling framework, after which the insulation can be fitted and the plasterboard fixed and set. The kitchen cabinetry can be installed and the internal carpentry fit- out is started. The 4th progress payment is now payable as your dream home nears completion.

6. Practical completion & handover

The waterproofing and tiling are installed, the painting brings life to the house and all of the final fix electrical and plumbing fittings and fixtures installed. Final inspections and approval obtained and services connected at this stage we go through the house together and complete a practical completion form. The final payment is made and the keys are handed over, as you start your exciting new lifestyle in your dream home.
